Construction work of two clinics begins in Shaghata

GAIBANDHA, June 01, 2019 (BSS) – Construction work of two community
clinics located at Tepa Padum Sahar North and South villages under Padum
Sahar union of Shaghata upazila in the district began on Friday afternoon
amid much enthusiasm to the locals.

Deputy speaker of the Jatiya Sangshad and local lawmaker Advocated Fazle
Rabbi Miah formally inaugurated the works through laying down the foundation
stone of the clinics in the afternoon as the chief guest.

Speaking on the occasion deputy speaker Advocate Fazle Rabbi Miah said the
government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had been working relentlessly
since 2009 for overall development of the health sector to build a healthy
nation.

The community clinics had been established in the rural areas of the
country at the cordial efforts of PM Sheikh Hasina and the philosophy of the
clinics was to provide primary healthcare services with medicines to the
grass level people free of cost, the deputy speaker also said.

The deputy speaker also instructed the engineers and the contractors to
complete the construction works of the clinics properly and timely.

Civil surgeon Dr. ABM Abu Hanif, upazila chairman M. Jahangir Alam, UNO
Uzzal Kumar Ghos, acting assistant engineer of Health Engineering Department
(HED) M. Nazrul Islam, political leaders and local elite including
journalists were present on the occasion.

The clinics are being constructed at the cost of TK 53 lakh at the direct
supervision of HED under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare while
government of Bangladesh is providing the fund, office sources said.

The works would be finished on September, 2019 it is expected, sources
added.
