CID prepares charge-sheet against 125 over question paper leakage

DHAKA, May 30, 2019 (BSS) – The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of
Police has prepared a charge-sheet over question paper leakage in Dhaka
University’s (DU) admission test and other recruitment tests against 125
people, including 87 DU students.

CID chief and additional Inspector General of Police Mohammad Shafiqul
Islam disclosed the information at a press briefing at CID headquarters in
Dhaka’s Malibagh area today.

He said the intelligence agency prepared the charge-sheet after one and a
half year of investigation, and it will be submitted before court after Eid-
ul-Fitr.

Among the 125 accused named in the charge-sheet, 87 are DU students, the
CID chief said, adding that 47 accused have already given confessional
statement in court under the section 164.

The investigation is still progressing, Shafiqul said. “Once we have
completed our investigation, we will submit the final charge sheet before
court,” he added.

He said a special team under the organised crime unit of police, led by
superintendent of police Mollah Nazrul Islam, has been working for one and a
half years to identify the people involved in question paper leakage.

Mentioning that question papers are leaked in two ways, the CID chief said
either these are leaked from printing press or leaked from examination
centres just few minutes before the tests begin.
