No negligence in Khaleda Zia’s treatment: Nasim

 DHAKA, April 7, 2018 (BSS) – Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammed Nasim today said there would be no negligence with the treatment of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.

“Begum Zia today went to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) for her medical checkup. I called the BSMMU Vice-Chancellor and gave him necessary directives to take proper care of her. Khaleda Zia has to keep faith on us, there would be no negligence with her health issues,” he said.

The minister said this while inaugurating the programme organized marking the World Health Day at Osmani Memorial Auditorium here .

She (Begum Khaleda Zia) is a former Prime Minister of the country. Now she is behind the bars as per the directives of the court, he said.

Mohammad Nasim informed that Begum Khaleda Zia and BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir wanted to receive treatment at a private hospital. But I can assure them that BSMMU could provide better treatment than any other hospitals, he added.

Nasim said that five thousand doctors would be recruited within two to three months and the other five thousand before the elections this year. Secretary of Health Services Division M Serajul Huq Khan presided over the function.

State Minister of the Ministry Zahid Maleque, Secretary (Medical Education and Family Welfare Division) Faiz Ahmed, Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) President Dr Mustafa Jalal Mohiuddin and World Health Organisation (WHO) representative to Bangladesh Dr Bardan Jung Rana also spoke, among others, on the occasion.

The country is celebrating World Health Day along with the other countries of the world. The theme of this year’s World Health Day is: ‘Universal Health Coverage: Everyone, Everywhere’.

In 1948, during the first world health assembly arranged by World Health Organization (WHO), it was decided April 7 of each year, with effect from 1950, would be celebrated as the World Health Day.

This is a global health awareness day celebrated every year on April 7 under the sponsorship of the World Health Organization (WHO) marking its birthday.
