Security measures taken for Eid-ul-Fitr in Khulna

KHULNA, May 27, 2019 (BSS) – Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Khulna Range Police Dr Khondokar Mohid Uddin said security measures have been beefed up in 10 districts ahead of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr.

Security measures have been taken before, after and during Eid day to celebrate one of the biggest religious festivals of the Muslims, he said while exchanging views with local journalists at the Range DIG office in the city yesterday.

Additional DIG Habibur Rahman and Nahidul Islam, Police Super of 10 districts of Khulna division, among others, were present.

The Range DIG of Khulna Police Mohid Uddin said at least 16,500 police personnel both in plainclothes and in uniforms will be deployed before one week of Eid at different shopping malls, bus, launch and railway terminals.

Members of law enforcement agencies will be deployed at important Eid ghahs and some Eid Jamaat grounds aiming to avert any untoward situation during Eid day, he said, adding that police will discharge their duties during five days after Eid.

To ensure tougher security measures, the police will set up a control room at the Range DIG office in the city.

Special attentions would be given to some key points including banks, financial organisations, and in and around the shopping malls.

He also asked officials to identify and take actions against muggers, pickpockets, doping gangs and unauthorized vehicles.

As part of other security measures, range police also would set up close-circuit television (CCTV) cameras and archway machine at the highway.
