DHAKA, MAY 26, 2019 (BSS) – Elite anti-crime Rapid Action Battalion
(RAB) today said they enforced an intensified security vigil in and around
Kamalapur Railway station ahead of the Eid-ul-Fitr.

RAB personnel set up a makeshift camp at the entrance of the station
while their personnel were seen patrolling around the station.

“This (intensified) vigil will continue until the return of the people
to Dhaka after their Eid celebrations at their ancestral home,” RAB-3
commanding officer Lieutenant Colonel Emranul Hasan told a media briefing at
the Kamalapur Station.

He said extra security plans were chalked up for shopping malls,
markets, banks and places which draw huge crowd during Eid.

Hasan said makeshift control rooms, security checkpoints and CCTV
cameras were installed at areas within purview of different RAB units, which
also kept ready their striking forces to be called out to combat any
situation that could affect peace.

He said several RAB patrol teams would guard the exit and entry points
of major cities including the capital to ensure smooth movement of vehicles
during the Eid and ensure safety of the passengers.

Asked about the reported black marketing of railway tickets, he said
that “we are monitoring the situation”.

“Our control rooms are open 24hrs . . . Let us know about any black
marketing, we will take necessary steps,” Hasan said.
