BRTC launches city bus service in Rangpur

RANGPUR, May 20, 2019 (BSS) – Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC)
today launched city bus service by introducing two double-decker modern buses
on two routes of the divisional city.

Mayor of Rangpur Mostafizar Rahman Mostafa inaugurated the double-decker
buses at a colourful function arranged by Rangpur Depot of BRTC at CO Bazar
point on the Rangpur-Dhaka highway as the chief guest.

Rangpur Depot Manager of BRTC Mehedi Hossain presided over the event
participated by officials different government departments and civic rights
based organisations and civil society members.

Assistant Commissioner (Traffic) of Rangpur Metropolitan Police Farhad
Imrul Kayes, its Traffic Inspector Delwar Hossain, President of CO Bazar unit
of Motor Sramik Union Abdus Samad Khan, its General Secretary Smasher Ali,
among others, spoke.

The BRTC Depot Manager said each of the two double-decker buses has 32
seats in the ground floor and 43 seats on the first floor with social
facilities for disabled persons and freedom fighters.

One of the two buses will regularly ply on the Paglapeer to Pirganj route
via Rangpur city.

“Passengers of Hajirhat, CO Bazar, Medical Mour, Shapla Chattar, Carmichael
College, Lalbag, Begum Rokeya University, Modern Mour and Pairaband areas can
avail facilities for transportation of the bus at these points on the route,”
he said.

Similarly, the other double-decker BRTC bus will regularly ply on the
Paglapeer to Kawnia Teesta Road Bride point route.

“Passengers of Hajirhat, CO Bazar, Medical Mour, Katchari Bazar, Paira
Chattar, Zahaj Company Mour, Shapla Chattar, Lalbag, Carmichael College,
Begum Rokeya University, Parker Mour, Tazhat and Satmatha areas can avail
transportation facilities of the bus at these points on the Paglapeer to
Teesta Road Bride point route,” he added.

Talking to BSS on double-decker busses, some passengers, like students,
youths, women and housewives, expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Sheikh
Hasina for launching the bus services here.

Students Rafiul Islam and Asrukona Roy of Begum Rokeya University and
students Kamrul Hasan and Aklima of Carmichael College said they felt
comfortable while travelling by the newly launched BRTC’s double-decker
buses.
