Trained Imams can help uprooting drug-addiction, terrorism

RAJSHAHI, April 3, 2018 (BSS) – Speakers at a view-sharing meeting here unequivocally called upon the Islamic scholars and leaders to play their due role to wipe out drug-addiction and terrorism from the society.

They said the Islamic scholars should engage themselves in the campaign. They should take the responsibility of freeing the society from all-sorts of crimes as they have pivotal role in this regard.

Divisional Office of Islamic Foundation (IF) organized the meeting at its conference hall in the city today. Large number of Islamic scholars and Imams joined the meeting discussing ways and means on how to ensure peace and tranquility everywhere in the society.

Deputy Commissioner of Rajshahi SM Abdul Kader addressed the meeting as chief guest with IF Divisional Director Syed Amin Uddin Mahmud in the chair.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Hatem Ali, Associate Professor of Rajshahi University Sheikh Toibur Rahman, IF Deputy Director Saiful Islam, Madrsaha Principals Jamal Uddin Mahmud and Shahdat Ali also spoke.

The discussants observed that Islam has no relation with any sort of crime and any other anarchic activities rather it is a religion of global peace and tranquility.

They unanimously underscored the need for proper motivation and counseling among the new generation so that they could supplement the government effort to culminate terrorism.

Abdul Kader said the present government with dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is determined to combat crimes and terrorism with collective efforts of all quarters especially the imams and other religious leaders.
