DHAKA, April 1, 2018 (BSS) – The authorities concerned have taken stern measures to check question paper leakage in the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and its equivalent examinations scheduled to begin across the country tomorrow.

“We have taken stern measures and sealed off all loophole s to stop question paper leakage in the HSC examinations,” Dhaka Education Board Chairman Professor Muhammad Ziaul Haque told BSS today.

Alongside taking strong security measures, he said, the government has developed some innovative systems including introduction of lottery to choose question sets and special security envelope so that the question papers are not leaked.

Prof Ziaul said, “Question sets will be fixed by lottery 25 minutes prior to examinations in a bid to check leakage. A section of dishonest persons were the advantage (of leaking question papers) when a question set was fixed for a particular exam.”

Like the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinees, the HSC candidates have been asked to enter the examination centers 30 minutes before their respective exams, he added.

More than one sets of wrapped up question papers will be sent to the exam centers,

Ziaul said, adding that stern actions will be taken against those who will be found responsible for unwrapping the question papers before the stipulated time.

He said introduction of security envelope, which contains question papers, would significantly contribute to checking question leak as nobody would be able to unwrap the security envelope without permission of the authorities concerned.

“Our law enforcement agencies have already indentified some Facebook groups, which were involved with question paper leakage incidents in the previous public examinations…. But these Facebook groups were resorting to falsehood regarding spread of question papers to trap examinees for their financial gains,” Prof Ziaul added.

He urged the guardians and examinees to refrain from any propaganda on question paper leakage as no Facebook group would be able to spread the original copy of any question paper.

The HSC and its equivalent examinations of 2018 under 10 education boards will begin across the country tomorrow amid tough measures to check question paper leakage and other malpractices in the examinations.

A total of 13,11,457 examinees from 8,864 educational institutions will appear in the examinations this year. Of them, 6, 35,697 are male and 5,47,989 female, said officials of the Education Ministry.

Only in-charge officers of respective centres will be allowed to enter the examination halls with mobile phones as they will be given instruction via a text message about the set of question papers, the Education Ministry sources said.

All the authorities concerned are sincerely working to root out all possible sources of question paper leakage as a vested quarter is involved in the malpractices, they said adding the government has decided to shut down all coaching centres ahead of the HSC examinations.
