Jabbar asks Teletalk to offer quality services

DHAKA, May 15, 2019 (BSS) – Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Minister Mustafa Jabbar today directed the state-owned mobile phone operator Teletalk to offer quality services to the customers.

“Not only for commercial success, Teletalk has to offer services to the people of all walks of life and to the remote areas,” he said while visiting the operator’s headquarters at city’s Gulshan.

Asking for further upgradation of Teletalk’s existing 2.5G service, Jabbar observed: “Survival is not possible defying data and future voice call to be conducted through data.”

He mentioned the progress of telecommunication and ICT sectors in Bangladesh, especially the increase in internet bandwidth consumption to 1100 gbps from 7.5 gbps in last ten years under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. It is a miracle and unprecedented instance, he said.

During the visit, the authority informed the minister that Teletalk has been offering services to country’s 43 percent areas through 4,500 BTSs.

Later, the minister opened Teletalk’s different services from USSD platform and also visited Teletalk customer care centers.

Posts and Telecommunications Division Secretary Ashoke Kumar Biswas, additional secretary Md Azizul Islam and Teletalk Managing Director Md Shahab Uddin were present.
