Bangladesh U16 fails to whitewash Pakistan

DHAKA, May 15, 2019 (BSS)-Pakistan Under-16 team avoided a whitewash when they beat Bangladesh by 29 runs in the third and final match of the three-match one-day series at Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium in Khulna today.

The junior Tigers thereby had to satisfy with 2-1 result in series. They also beat Pakistan by 1-0 in the two-match three-day series earlier.

Thanks to opener Haseebullah’s magnificent 129-run knock, Pakistan U16, who batted first, racked up a respectable 279-8 in 50 overs.

Haseebullah struck 11 fours and four sixes in his 141-ball knock. He was ably supported by his fellow opener Sameer Saqib who made 64.

The duo shared 143 runs in the opening stand to lay a solid platform. However their middle order and lower middle order failed to capitalize on it as they had the chance to take the score past 300.

Apart from Hassebullah and Sameer, No. 3 batsman Muhammad Shehzad (23) and No.11 batsman Ali Asfand (12) only could reach double digit figure.

For Bangladesh, Samsul Islam Epon claimed 5-45, while Mahfuzur Rahman Rabbi snapped up 3-49.

In pursuit of huge target, Bangladesh were bowled out for 250 in 47.5 overs with opener Sakib Shahriar making the highest 60. Mahfuzur Rahman Rabbi contributed 46, while captain Rihad Khan chipped-in with 43.

Aseer Mughal and Farhad Khan took three wickets apiece for Pakistan U16 team.

The visitors will leave here for home tomorrow (Thursday).
