NILPHAMARI, May 15, 2019 (BSS) – Maintenance and repairing of 40 railway coaches are going on in Syedpur Railway Workshop to meet the shortage of carriers during coming Eid-ul-Fitr journey.
The repairing works would be completed by June 1 and the coaches would be added with rail fleet in Lamonirhat and Pakshai division of the western railway, railway sources said.
Sources in the Syedpur Railway Workshop said ten meter-gauge bogies and 30 broad-gauge bogies are being repaired at a cost of Taka 20 crore.
About 1,020 workers of the workshop are busy to complete the maintenance work of the carriages in time.
Superintendent engineer of the workshop Joydul Islam said it’s their routine work as every year additional coaches are added in the rail fleet to meet up pressure of passengers during every Eid.
All coaches would be ready for carrying passengers as per schedule, he said.
