DHAKA, March 31, 2018 (BSS) – Fisheries and Livestock Minister Narayon Chandra Chanda today said the country has attained self-sufficiency in food production as the government is resolute to develop the agriculture sector ensuring optimum utilization of land and resources.
“Present government has laid maximum importance on the development of the country’s agriculture sector ensuring utilization of modern technology,” he told the Agro Conference 2018 organized by AG Agro Industries Limited at the city’s International Convention City Bashundhara, said a press release.
Appreciating contributions of the private sector to the development of agriculture, the minister expressed his optimism that the private sector will continue its efforts side by side with the government to contribute to the country’s economic growth.
Prime Minister’s Media Adviser Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury and Bangladesh Livestock Research Institute Director General Dr Nathu Ram Sarker addressed the function with AG Agro Industries Limited Chairman Shahidul Ahasan in the chair.
Krishibid Institution Bangladesh (KIB) was honored on the occasion for its continuous contributions to the field of agriculture. KIB Secretary General Md Khairul Alam Prince received the crest on behalf of his institution.
