DHAKA, June 1, 2017 (BSS) – Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith today said the government would continue priority financing for the 10 large projects under ‘fast-track’ to accelerate their implementation.
“Growth stimulating 10 large projects have been brought under ‘fast-track’ monitoring, and steps have been taken to accelerate their implementation,” the finance minister said while unveiling the FY18 budget today.
He said that the government would continue financing of these projects on priority basis and monitor their implementation closely.
He also noted that the monitoring of implementation of projects under 10 ministries/divisions with large ADP allocations has been strengthened through regular meetings.
Besides, initiative has been taken to improve coordination between the Economic Relations Division and development partners to ease the fund release processes of 20 largest aid-recipient projects, Muhith said.
He informed the House that the government has taken steps to identify the low performing projects and appoint consultants for providing expert services to resolve implementation problems.
“We have taken steps to form a pool of project directors and provided training to improve their efficiency,” he said.
The 10 fast track projects include Padma Multipurpose Bridge, Dhaka’s Metro Rail, Payra Deep Sea Port, Sonadia Deep Sea Port, Padma Rail Link, Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar Rail Network, Rooppur Nuclear power plant, Rampal power plant, Matarbari power plant and LNG Terminal.
