Menon for intensifying social welfare services

RAJSHAHI, March 31, 2018 (BSS)- Social Welfare Minister Rashed Khan Menon, MP, asked the field level officials and staffs concerned today to expedite the social welfare services for improving living and livelihood condition of the poor and distressed people.

” The present government has been working relentlessly for welfare of the underprivileged section of the society and you should stand beside them with both mental and financial help,” he said at a grant distribution function here.

The minister distributed various support grants among the people for treatment of cancer, kidney, liver and other diseases, and also sub-stipends among the students.

Department of Social Services (DSS) organized the distribution ceremony at city centre convention hall in the city.

Fazley Hossain Badsha, MP, DSS Divisional Director Zulfikar Haider and Deputy Directors Rashedul Kabir and Hasina Momtaj also spoke on the occasion with Deputy Commissioner SM Abdul Kader in the chair.

Rashed Khan Menon said the present government has taken many steps for the welfare of patients and other vulnerable people to help them passing their days without difficulty.

Menon told the meeting that the government has raised the allocation of financial assistance for patient suffering from cancer, kidney diseases, liver cirrhosis, stroke related paralysis and congenital heart diseases to Taka 50 crore from Taka 20 crore.

He said the role of field level officials and staffs concerned are very important towards proper implementation of the government’s welfare-oriented programmes.

Besides, Menon puts emphasis on making the service delivery process easier.

He also stressed the need for using innovating tactics in the delivery activities for reaching those to the doorsteps of the beneficiaries.
