DINAJPUR, May 30, 2017 (BSS)-Police, in special drives from Monday night to this morning, arrested 22 people including three activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and recovered 248 bottles of Phensidyl syrup from nine upazilas of the district.
Police said they were picked up from different areas of the district.
During the drives, Dinajpur Sadar police arrested six persons, Khansama Thana police arrested two, Kaharole Thana police two, Hakimpur Thana police arrested two, Birampur police arrested one, Ghoraghat police arrested two, Birganj Thana police arrested three, Phulbari Thana police arrested one and Chirirbandar Thana police arrested three activists of Jamaat-e-Islami.
Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in a drive recovered 248 bottles of Phensidyl syrup from Hili railway station in Hakimpur upazila in an abandoned condition during the period.
Several cases, including charges of subversive activities, are pending with different police stations against the arrested persons, the sources added.
The arrested people were sent to jail.
