Social advancement with Tagore’s ideals of human welfare stressed

RANGPUR, May 09, 2019 (BSS) – Literary personalities at a discussion
have called upon everyone to become inspired with ideals of human welfare of
Biswa Kobi Rabindranath Tagore for social advancement toward prosperity.

They expressed confidence of building the Golden Bengal of Father of the
Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman through the expansion of Tagore’s
non-communal ideas and programmes taken for building a better society.

They came up with the observations on Wednesday night at a special
function organised by Rangpur Sahittya-Sangskriti Parishad (RSSP) at its
office here in remembrance of Tagore to celebrate his 158th birth
anniversary.

Marking the day, the RSSP chalked out programmes including discussion on
life, works, philosophy, literary works, social welfare and cultural
activities of Tagore, recitations of self-composed and Tagore’s poems and
rendering his songs.

With President of RSSP Swattik Al Maruf in the chair, Rangpur Divisional
General manager of Agrani Bank Limited and literary personality Abul Basher
Serniabad attended the function as the chief guest.

Deputy General Manager of Agrani Bank Limited Shajahan Ali was present
as the special guest.

Founding President of RSSP and former Head of the Department of Bengali
of Rangpur Carmichael College Professor Muhammad Alim Uddin took part as the
Keynote Discussant.

Noted literary and cultural personalities Professor Mohammad Shah Alam,
Dr Mofizul Islam Mantu, Hasna Hena Begum Rosy, Sunil Sarker, Anwarul Islam
Raju and General Secretary of RSSP Advocate Zakia Sultana Choite participated
in the discussion.

Professor Alam moderated the whole function participated by members of
the cultural and literary organisation, academicians, Rabindra Researchers
and cultural personalities of the city.

The speakers discussed on the life, human philosophy, literary works,
poems, songs, novels, social welfare and cultural activities of Rabindranath
Tagore who enriched and raised Bengali literature and culture to a newer
height in world arena.

Professor Muhammad Alim Uddin said Rabindranath Tagore would be
remembered forever for his unparallel literary works in all relevant fields
enriching Bengali language, culture, heritage and human philosophy.

The chief guest urged poets, writers and researchers, literary and
cultural personalities to follow the ideals of Tagore to further enrich
Bengali literature in building a non- communal, peaceful and developed
society.
