DHAKA, March 28, 2018 (BSS) – Major General Md Shafeenul Islam today took over as the Director General (DG) of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), said a BGB statement.
He took charge from Acting BGB DG Brigadier General Md Anisur Rahman at the BGB headquarters at Philkhana here this morning.
He was Chairman of Bangladesh Tea Board prior to joining the post.
Major General Md Shafeenul Islam was born in Joypurhat district on March 2 in 1966. He joined Bangladesh Military Academy (BMA) in 1984 and was commissioned in Infantry corps in 1986.
He is also a graduate of Defense Services Command and Staff College and National Defense College, Mirpur. He obtained his Masters in Defense Studies (MDS) from the National University.
Shafeenul was an observer of the UN peace keeping mission in Iraq. He also visited USA, Iraq, United Kingdom, Nepal, Thailand, Sri Lanka, China, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Saudi Arabia and Germany.
