2 Rohingya killed in Cox’s Bazar ‘gunfight’

COX’S BAZAR, May 06, 2019 (BSS) – Two suspected Rohingya drug traders were killed in a gunfight with police at Leda Rohingya Camp of Teknaf in Cox’s Bazar early hours today.

The deceased were identified as Mohammad Alam, 35, son of Bacha Mia of Noyapara Rohingya camp and Mohammad Rafiq, 20, son of Ali Hossain, a resident of Jadimura Rohingya camp.

Pradip Kumar Das, officer-in-charge (OC) of Teknaf Police Station, said on information, a team of police conducted a drive in the area around 2am.

Sensing the presence of police, the drug traders opened fire on them, forcing them to fire back, triggering the gunfight.

Later, police recovered Alam and Rafiq bullet-hit bodies from the spot.

Two sub inspectors of police were also injured in the gunfight.

Police also recovered two locally-made LG, seven round cartridges, taka seven lakh and 2,200 pieces of Yaba tablets from the spot.
