National Day reception held at Bangladesh New Delhi mission

 Dhaka, March 27, 2018 (BSS) – Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi wrapped up the Independence and National Day celebration on Monday with a large reception where Indian State Minister for External Affairs Gen.(retd) VK Singh was present as the guest of honour.

Bangladesh High Commissioner to New Delhi Syed Muazzem Ali received Gen. Singh at the reception held at Bangladesh House on Monday evening, according to a message received here today.

A smart military band from Dhaka played the national anthems of Bangladesh and India as the two stood at a tastefully decorated podium.

Gen. Singh also joined the High Commissioner and his wife Mrs. Tuhfa Zaman Ali in cutting a cake celebrating Bangladesh’s 47th independence anniversary.

Among the guests, were members of parliament, politicians, diplomats, war veterans, including those who took part in Bangladesh’s 1971 liberation war, high civil and military officials, journalists, business people and elites.

Two mass circulation Indian dailies Indian Express and Financial Express and one magazine India Empire brought out special supplements to mark Bangladesh’s Independence Day.
