PM releases stamp on Independence Day

DHAKA, March 26, 2018 (BSS) – Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today released a commemorative postage stamp, a first-day cover and a data card marking the 48th Independence and National Day.

Sheikh Hasina also released a commemorative postage stamp, a first-day cover and a data card on the occasion of celebration of recognition of the historic 7th March Speech of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by the UNESCO as part of world’s documentary heritage.

The premier released the stamps and the first-day covers of Taka 10 each and the data cards of Taka 5 each at her official Ganabhaban residence here this afternoon. Two special cancellers were used on the occasion.

Post and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar, Secretary of the Ministry Shyam Sundar Sikdar and Director General of Bangladesh Post Office Sushanta Kumar Mandal were present on the occasion, among others.

The stamps, first-day covers and data cards would be sold from Philatelic Bureau of Dhaka GPO today and those would be available at other GPOs and head post offices across the country later.

There is also an arrangement for special cancellers in four GPOs to be used for the first-day covers.
