Bangladesh Police has 1,88,724 personnel: Asaduzzaman
SANGSAD BHABAN, April 30, 2019 (BSS) – Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan today said at present, there are a total of 1,88,724 personnel in Bangladesh Police.
“As per the monthly report of March 2019 of Bangladesh Police, there are a total of 1,88,724 personnel in the police force,” he said while responding to a tabled question placed by treasury bench lawmaker Nurunnabi Chowdhury of Bhola -3 in the House here with Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair.
The home minister said among the all police personnel, 1,75,333 are male while 13,391 female.
He said the government has taken a number of policies, including the National Women Development Policy-2011, so that more women can join the police force.
Responding to another tabled question placed by Awami League lawmaker Haji Selim of Dhaka-7, Asaduzzaman said the government has no plan right now to construct residential quarters at thana level.
“But, if necessary, steps could be taken to build quarters at thana level as per the demand of districts or units concerned,” he said.
