SANGSAD BHABAN, April 29, 2019 (BSS) – Terming militancy and terrorism an enemy against humanity, Awami League Presidium Member Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim today said militancy and terrorism are stigmatising religions as nowadays these misdeeds stand against the humanity.

“Islam is a religion of peace and humanity. Islam always creates, never destroys,” he told the parliament while addressing the general discussion on the Rules of Procedure 147 (1) with Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair.

Recalling the recent series bomb blasts in Sri Lanka, the AL leader said his grandson Zayan Chowdhury was killed and son-in-law seriously injured in the blasts.

In the name of religion, Myanmar forcefully displaced one million Rohingya people, he said, adding ‘Would we want such a state or such a world?”

Sheikh Selim said the communal forces killed Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on August 15, 1975, and they were patronised and acknowledged by big countries.

After assassination of Bangabandhu, he said, militancy and terrorism were emerged in the country.

Many militant outlawed groups, including Banglabhai, carried out killings in the country, the AL presidium member said they tried 18 times to kill Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

About the much-talked-about Nusrat killing, he suggested enacting a new law which allows the convicts, who are involved in such barbaric killings, to execute them in firing squad.
