NILG trains 1,07,344 officials, public representatives in 8 years

DHAKA, Mar 23, 2018 (BSS) – National Institute of Local Government (NILG) provided training to 1,07,344 officials and public representatives on the activities of local government in eight years from 2009 to 2017.

The information was disclosed at a seminar titled “Bangladesh in Development Phase: Expectation, Achievement and Potentiality” at the auditorium of CIRDUP here.

Local Government Division Senior Secretary Dr Jafar Ahmed Khan addressed the seminar as the chief guest with NILG Director General Tapan Kumar Karmakar in the chair.

NILG Director Md Golam Yahia delivered the welcome address while NILG Director (Research and Planning) Mohammad Yeah-Yea Bhuiyan presented a keynote paper.

NILG Director (admin and coordinator) Sheikh Mofizul Islam, Bangladesh Rural Development Board Director General Muhammad Mowdudur Rashed Safdar and BIRD Director General Dr Mizanur Rahman, among others, addressed the seminar.

Dr Jafar said the present government is working for sustainable development.

Education and training are the two main foundations to create enlightened people to build a peaceful society and Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman gave special importance to these sectors, he said.

Jafar said there is no alternative to education and training for sustainable development.
