Saiffudin vows to make his presence felt in WC

DHAKA, April 26, 2019 (BSS)-Pace-bowling all-rounder Mohammad Saifuddin vowed to give his best in helping the side achieve its best results in the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup, scheduled to begin from May 30 in England and Wales.

It will be the 22-year old cricketer’s first World Cup and he said he would leave no stone unturned to make it memorable one.

“Definitely I have some personal target in World Cup but I can’t disclose it at the moment. After the end of the day, I will personally judge whether I can achieve my goal,” Saifuddin said here on Friday.

“Cricket is a team game so definitely I will try my best to help the side achieve its expected result. I will put my effort more than what I can do.”

The World Cup is believed to be tough for the bowlers since the England wicket over the years changed its nature to be batting-friendly. In fact the highest two team totals in ODI cricket history are registered in England soil.

Saifuddin also knows that fact and admitted it would be challenging for the bowlers. But at the same time, he revealed that he would love to take the challenge.

“I have seen the recent matches which were held in England. It looked like completely conducive to the batsmen,” he said.

“The line and length should be tight. From what I have seen after watching the India-England match recently, it won’t be easy to bowl there. Moreover the ICC always prepares good batting pitch. So it will be challenging. However I love to take the challenge and I want to prepare myself that way.”

Being a pace-bowling all-rounder and his recent form keeps Saifuddin in advantageous position of playing every game in World Cup for Bangladesh. But his elbow problem with which he played the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) is believed to soar up at any moment.

“The DPL has just ended. I have played almost all matches so there is some tiredness but I tried to recover as much as I can. There are some times at hands to recover also. Since I will prepare and recover myself, I even didn’t go home. If I go home, it will be tough for me to recover from the tiredness. That’s why I stay in Dhaka and taking rest to recover.”
