Police to ensure peace during Ramadan: DIG Rangpur

RANGPUR, April 25, 2019 (BSS) – Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Rangpur Range

Devdas Bhattacharya today directed police to become more active in ensuring peaceful

law, order and free movement of people during upcoming holy month of Ramadan.

“The police force must provide services to common people in a hassle-free manner

along with remaining alert to maintain law and order for contributing to build a

peaceful society free from drug, terrorism and militancy,” he said.

He passed the direction at the monthly crime, law and order assessment meeting

arranged for March-2019 and maintaining law and order during holy month of Ramadan in

Rangpur Range at his conference room here as the chief guest.

Additional DIG (Finance and Admin) Md. Mazid Ali, Superintendents of Police (SP)

from Rangpur, Panchagarh, Thakurgaon, Kurigram, Nilphamari, Lalmonirhat, Dinajpur and

Gaibandha districts attended the function.

Later, the DIG distributed crests and certificates among police members and

organisations of different districts in Rangpur Range for their extraordinary

performances in improving law and order situation.

Terming Rangpur Range as a peaceful region, he said the law enforcement agencies

would take adequate steps and work unitedly to bring all eight districts of the range

under security blanket during holy month of Ramadan.

“Police, RAB and administrations and other law enforcement agencies in plain dresses

will conduct special patrols, anti-crime and anti-drug raids to prevent drugs, use of

fake currency notes and ensure peaceful law and order during Ramadan,” he said.

He directed all SPs of Rangpur Range to ensure security at markets, shopping centres

and security of female buyers and stop toll collection, mugging and extortion from

vehicles on the roads and highways during Ramadan.
