Six sentenced to death in Khadem killing case

DHAKA, April 25, 2019 (BSS) – A Dhaka court today sentenced six people to death and life imprisonment to another in a case lodged over murder of Dhaka divisional commissioner office employee Aminul Haque Khadem in 2009.

Dhaka 4th speedy trial tribunal judge Abdur Rahman Sarder pronounced the judgment this morning.

The convicts sentenced to death are- Shahidur Rahman Khadem, Mahbub Alam Liton, Sheikh Shamim Ahammed, Md Jewel, Kamal Hossain Biplob and Sohel. Of the six, Liton and Biplob are yet to be arrested.

Convict, who was sentenced to life imprisonment, is Abdullah Mohammad Nazim Uddin Babu.

The court also acquitted another accused Azgar Hossain Rana as the charges against him were not proved.

According to the case documents, Aminul Haque Khadem was gunned down in a pre-planned manner in Malibagh area on May 3, 2009, over a dispute regarding the control of Ahmedullah Estate.

A case was filed with Motijheel Police Station the next day. RAB filed charge sheet in the case on November 30, 2009, against eight in the case and the accused later gave confessional statements before the court.

The court today came up with the judgment after examining 17 witnesses in the case.
