SANGSAD BHABAN, April 24, 2019 (BSS) – State Minister for Industries Kamal
Ahmed Majumder today said the government gave Taka 1,837 crore more as
subsidy for importing urea fertilizer last year.
“Import of total urea fertilizer was 14 lakh 19 thousand and 148.757
tonnes in 2017-2018 fiscal year and government paid Taka 1837.78 crore as
subsidy for importing the fertilizer,” said the state minister while
responding to a query placed by Jatiya Party lawmaker Begum Nasrin Jahan
Ratna of Barisal-6 in the House here.
Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC) under the Ministry of
Industries now imports urea fertilizer.
