Hasan unveils foundation stone of Information Commission Building

DHAKA, April 24, 2019 (BSS) – Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud here today unveiled the foundation stone of the 13-storey ‘Information Commission Building’.

He inaugurated the contraction work of the building located in city’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar administrative area.

“The initiative to construct the Information Commission’s own 13-storey building is a milestone in the country’s development,” said Hasan, also Awami League publicity and publication secretary.

Addressing the occasion, he said the present government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina formulated the Right to Information (RTI) Act and formed the Information Commission in 2009 as the government believes in free flow of information.

The information minister praised the design of the modern auditorium, conference rooms and other facilities of the building and hoped that the construction of the building would be completed within the stipulated time.

With Chief Information Commissioner Martuza Ahmed in the chair, the inaugural function was addressed, among others, by Information Secretary Abdul Malek, Bangladesh Press Council Chairman Justice Momtaz Uddin Ahmed, Information Commissioner Nepal Chandra Sarker, Principal Information Officer Joynal Abedin and Information Commission Secretary Md Tawfiqul Alam.
