Drama takes civilization forward: Dr Hasan

DHAKA, April 23, 2019 (BSS) – Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud today said drama is a reflection of life and it takes the civilization forward.

He came up with the remark while addressing a publication festival of a drama titled “Anander Mukti Chai O Onyanyo Natok” written by Mahakal Natya Samproday member and a senior journalist Kanai Chakrobarti at the National Theater of Shilpakola Academy in the city this evening.

The minister said the government of Bangabandhu’s daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is committed to cherishing practicing the country’s heritage-arts-literature-culture as like Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman struggled throughout his life for the freedom of the Bangali nation.

Talking about the responsibilities of drama, he said it also portrays the picture of the life, adding that drama depicted the overall situation of the liberation war including all the sufferings, pain and glorious moments. He urged all to create more drama so that it would spread at rural levels saying drama will express all the problems and solutions of the life from the grassroots to upper people.

Dr Hasan lauded Kanai Chakrobarti and the Mahakal Natya Samproday for taking initiative for three-decade-long drama and other cultural functions.

Mahfuzur Rahman Mita, MP, Information Secretary Abdul Malek and Sammilito Sangskritik Jote President Golam Quddus addressed the programme, among others, with founding member of Mahakal Natya Samproday Advocate Afzal Hossain in the chair.

Later, some quotes from a Giti Alekkhya (written lyric) “Jakhan Amar Pitar Nam Sheikh Mujibur Rahman” and drama “Anander Mukti Chai” were read out in the programme.
