Education sector witnesses remarkable progress: Muhith

SYLHET, March 20, 2018 (BSS) – Finance minister AMA Muhith today said the country has witnessed remarkable progress in the education sector due to various time-befitting initiatives taken by the present government.

“Bangladesh would become a middle income country soon. The country’s literacy rate has increased and the rate of poverty has come down in recent years because of the government’s sincere efforts,” said Muhith while speaking at a discussion after unveiling the memorial plaque ‘Ujjiban Platinum Jubilee Chattar’ marking Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s visit to Madan Mohan College here.

Muhith, who is the chairman of the college’s governing body, said a remarkable development has taken place in the country’s education sector because of the present government’s education-friendly measures. The government will continue to work for further development of the education system in the days to come, he added.

College Teachers Council general secretary Uzzal Das, deputy principal Md Rafiqiul Islam, and Prof Abdul Hamid received the finance minister when he reached the college campus. College Chhatra League president AKM Mahmudul Hasan and general secretary Mifta Ul Hassain were present at the programme.
