Prime Doleshwar seals third spot in DPL
DHAKA, April 23, 2019 (BSS)-Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club sealed the third spot in Dhaka Premier League, after narrowly edging past Mohammedan Sporting Club to register a narrow three runs win in the last round of Super League phase at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium at Fatullah today.
After being sent to bat first, Prime Doleshwar put on 274-6 in the stipulated 50 overs. Mohammedan came agonizingly close to overhaul the target before suffering late order collapse to be restricted to 271-9 in 50 overs.
For Doleshwar, Farhad Hossain was the highest scorer with 89. His knock was complemented by Shykat Ai’s 89 and Saif Hassan’s 65. Shafiul Islam took 2-39 for Mohammedan.
Mohammad Ashraful led Mohammedan’s charge with 76 runs but his dismissal sparked a collapse and the Motijheel outfit batters simply threw away the towel with only four runs from the cherished victory.
Taibur Rahman was the most successful bowler for Doleshwar with 3-34.
Prime Doleshwar finished the league with 20 points while Mohammedan earned 16 points to end the league on sixth position.
