Burn, Plastic Surgery Institute to be opened in 2018: Nasim

DHAKA, March 20, 2018 (BSS) – Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammed Nasim has said the 500-seated Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute and Hospital after the name of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will be inaugurated in September, 2018.

“I hope thousands of burn victims will get advanced treatment in the 500- bed hospital once it is completed,” he said.

He was speaking as chief guest while inaugurating ‘Health Service Week – 2018’ at the outdoor services complex of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) in city’s Chankharpul area.

Bangladesh Army has been constructing the institute with efficiency and at a faster pace, he added.

Nasim said around 10,000 more doctors would be recruited through special BCS to remove manpower problem in the health sector before the election in December of this year.

“As many as 5000 physicians will be recruited in the first phase while 5,000 more doctors will be appointed in phases,” he said.

State Minister for Health and Family Welfare Zahid Maleque, Health Secretary Faiz Ahmed (Medical Education), Director General of Directorate General of Health Services Professor Dr Abul Kalam, Secretary General of Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) Dr Mustafa Jalal Mohiuddin and DMC Director Brigadier General AKM Nasir Uddin, among others, were present.
