Maintaining continuity of development needed for achieving middle income status, says Tarana Halim

DHAKA, March 20, 2018 (BSS) – State Minister for Information Advocate Tarana Halim today said maintaining continuity of development by showing zero tolerance against corruption, strong monitoring system enforced by each ministries and political stability, is needed for achieving the middle income status.

The State Minister for Information said this while addressing in a press conference held at the Information ministry conference room here.

To meet these challenges, she said the present government should come to power once again for maintaining the development. The country, she said, would then easily become a middle income one by the stipulated time.

The country had witnessed ‘hat trick’ in corruption earlier…we have been enabled to overcome the situation and continuity of development would be maintained by showing ‘zero’ tolerance against the corruption, she said at the press conference arranged by the Department of Mass Communication.

It was jointly held in 62 districts and four hilly upazilas as part of celebrating the historic success to reach Bangladesh into a developing country from its LDC status. In addition to this, the state minister said we have to strengthen supervision at the field level, adding that the achievement of the government should be focused positively in the mass media.

The country has achieved the developing country status as the present government was continuously in power, said Tarana, adding that the development would be continued if the continuity of the government could be maintained.

Additional Secretary Abual Hossain, Principal Information Officer (PIO) Kamrun Nahar, Director General of the Mass Communication Department Zakir Hossain, among others, spoke on the occasion.
