Stocks witness flat on lower transactions

DHAKA, April 21, 2019 (BSS) – Stock markets today witnessed flat when daily transactions declined on lower demand.

The day’s trade value at the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) declined to Taka 351.84 crore from Thursday’s Taka 352.13 crore and the daily trade fell to 8.43 crore shares from 8.60 crore shares of the previous session.

The broader DSEX index of the DSE closed the day with 2.33 points up at 5,323.74. The Shariah DSES also followed the same trend with 3.60 points up at 1,231.21. But, the blue-chip DS30 closed the session with 4.63 points down at 1,892.95.

At the DSE, prices of 143 securities out of the day’s 345 closed higher against 142 losing issues.

The major gaining issues were Standard Ceramics, BANGAS, Makson Spinning, Monno Stafflers and Phoenix Finance while the major losing issues were MERCINS, Republic, Asian Insurance, Agrani Insurance and BIFC.

Fortune topped the turnover list followed by UPGDCL, Monno Ceramics, BSCCL and National Tubes.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with upward trend with its major CASPI 4.88 points up at 16,269.83.

At the CSE, a total of 232 issues were traded while 102 closed higher and 96 closed lower as 1.86 crore shares worth Taka 48.91 crore changed hands.
