Police recover ‘borkha’ used in Nusrat murder
DHAKA, April 20, 2019 (BSS) – Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) today recovered the ‘borkha’, that was allegedly used by accused Jobayer during his setting fire on Feni madrasah student Nusrat Jahan Rafi, from a ditch near Kashmir Bazar area adjacent to Sonagazi Islamia Fazil Madrasah in Feni.
“Wearing this borkha, accused Jobayer (might) set fire on Nusrat by pouring kerosene oil on her body. PBI recovered it on the basis of a confessional statement of the accused,” additional superintendent of police of PBI Feni circle Md Maniruzzaman told BSS.
He said the borkha is a key evidence of the murder case and it will help the trail procedure of the case.
Earlier, arrestees in the case Nur Uddin and Shahadat Hossain Shamim gave confessional statements saying five persons clad in borkha took part in the murder.
Nusrat Jahan Rafi, an Alim examinee of Sonagazi Senior Islamia Fazil Madrasah, was set on fire on April 6 allegedly by persons loyal to Principal Siraj Ud Doula against whom she raised allegations of sexual harassment. She succumbed to her injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) in the capital on April 10.
Some 19 persons, including eight accused, have been detained so far in the murder incident. Of them, four gave confessional statements. Thirteen persons were taken on remand.
In the incident, PBI today brought Sonagazi Islamia Senior Fazil Madrasah Governing Body vice-president Ruhul Amin before the court.
