Use of technology for sustainable development stressed

DHAKA, April 20, 2019 (BSS) – Speakers at a seminar today said the number of educated unemployed is being increased not only in Bangladesh but in other developing countries also and digital economy could give a heal to this unemployment.

They opined although technology-based economy has some challenges it could expedite the pace of country’s development.

Dhaka School of Economics (DScE) organized the seminar titled “Digital Economy Fourth Industrial Revolution and Big Data: Impact on Bangladesh Economy” at its seminar room.

Noted Economist and Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) Chairman Dr. Qazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmad attended the seminar as chief guest.

National University Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Hafiz Mohammad Hasan Babu, Bangladesh Chamber of Industries President Anwar-Ul Alam Chowdhury Parvez, Bangladesh Centre for Fourth Industrial Revolution Vice President Syed Tamjid Ur Rahman and DScE Assistant Professor Rehena Parvin took part as discussants.

Course Coordinator of DScE’s Entrepreneurship Economics Professor Dr Muhammad Mahboob Ali made keynote presentation.

Kholiquzzaman said economic development is being realized through digitalization process and poverty has to be reduced with the excellence of technology.

He said the government has to adopt a time-befitting policy to utilize the potentiality of technology overcoming challenges.

Mahboob Ali said another industrial revolution is going to take place pining upon technology and there is no scope to avoid it.

“Digital development has to be ensured in Bangladesh for attaining desired development as per the plan,” he noted.

Mentioning process of the fourth industrial revolution has already began, Anawar-Ul Alam said Bangladesh has huge potentialities and optimum utilization of those have to be ensured for development.
