Rangpur people for safe road during Ramadan

RANGPUR, Apr 20, 2019 (BSS) – Cross section of people in a public hearing here today called for maintenance of all roads ahead of Ramadan, strictly follow the restriction on unfit transports and eradicate all malpractices in the BRTA to ensure safe road during the holy moth.

Roads and Highways Division (R&H) organised the public hearing aimed at taking necessary steps to ensure safe journey for everybody during the upcoming holy month of Ramadan and Eid-ul-Fitr.

Speaking on the occasion Secretary to the Roads and Highways Division Md. Nazrul Islam asked the officials for immediately looking into the road safety issues, taking actions and completing all ongoing maintenance works of RHD timely to put in place a smooth mode of communication during the month of Ramadan.

Roads and Highway Division with the support of other agencies would take all preparations to ensure hazard free journey for the travelers during the upcoming holy month of Ramadan and Eid-ul-Fitr, he said.

Officials of R&H, BRTA and BRTC and common people from Bogra, Joypurhat, Gaibandha, Kurigram, Lalmonirhat, Rangpur, Nilphamari, Panchagarh, Thakurgaon and Dinajpur and other surrounding districts were present.

Nazrul Islam said comprehensive and well-coordinated steps will be taken to ensure safe journey of the travelers across the country on the occasion of the upcoming holy month of Ramadan and Eid-ul-Fitr festivity.

He said Dhaka-Rangpur highway will be elevated to six-lane in near future when there will be no traffic jam and no road accident.

He asked the authorities concerned to take effective steps to reduce the number of road accidents in Rangpur zone.
