Aim to make tournament a memorable; coach Choton

DHAKA, April 20, 2019, (BSS)- Bangladesh U-19 women’s football team coach Golam Robanni Choton said his team want to make the tournament, named after Bangamata, a memorable putting on their best efforts.

He was speaking at a pre match press conference held on Saturday at conference room of Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) Bhaban.

Bangladesh will take on United Arab Emirates in their group B opening match of the tournament scheduled to be held on Monday (April 22) at the country’s premier venue Bangabandhu National Stadium

“The girls are fully prepared …. we want to go match by match … and then go to the semi-final….. we want to make the tournament a memorable … we’ll take to the field hoping for victory,” said Choton at a pre match press conference.

He said:”Girls already has gained substantial improvement in tactically and technically which they already proved in the field …… we have work down with team’s formation and we’ll utmost try to win each match and make the tournament a memorable one,” said the coach.

Choton thinks that the two tournaments which the girls recently played in Myanmar and Nepal, are good enough preparation for the team.

The girls have been in consistence training … they have corrected their mistakes which they did in the SAFF tournament in Nepal during the intensive training ……..instructions have also given to the team on how they would handle their opponents, he added.

Replying to a question the coach said he does not feel any pressure at the moment rather his girls are ready to take the challenge and give their best effort in the match.

The U-19 head coach said they have no any previous experience of playing against Mongolia and Laos but played different age level tournaments in the remaining participating teams.

Bangladesh U-19 team’s captain Mishrat Jahan Moushumi said they have already completed their preparation for the tournament which is going to be held for the first time.

She also wants to make the best use of their learning which they achieved in the last two tournaments in Myanmar and Nepal.

BFF women’s wing chairman Mahfuza Akter Kiron said the country’s women’s football would go one step ahead by participating in the Bangamata U-19 Gold Cup which is going to be held for the first time in Bangladesh. Their confidence level would also be high.

Kiron hoped that the team would be able to show their good performance as they already corrected their mistakes in the SAFF Championship and their first target is to become champions in group phase.
