Cabinet adopts obituary reference for Priyabhashini, plane crash victims

DHAKA, Mar 19, 2018 (BSS) – The cabinet today expressed profound shock at the death of noted artiste Ferdousi Priyabhashini and victims of the tragic plane crash in Katmandu, Nepal on March 12, 2018.

The resolution was adopted in the weekly meeting of the cabinet held at Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair.

Cabinet Secretary Md. Shafiul Alam said while briefing reporters at Bangladesh Secretariat after the cabinet meeting.

The cabinet adopted an obituary resolution expressing deep condolence at the loss of lives of 51 persons including 26 Bangladeshi nationals in the tragic plane crash in Katmandu, the cabinet secretary said.

The cabinet adopted a resolution expressing deep shock at the death of noted architect and freedom fighter Ferdousi Priyabhashini, he said.

The cabinet recalled the pioneering role of Priyabhashini for bringing in notice the barbaric torture of Pakistani forces on Bengali women during War of Liberation in 1971. Death of the valiant freedom fighter and architect is an irreparable loss in country’s cultural arena, the resolution said.

The cabinet conveyed profound sympathy to the members of the bereaved families and prayed for eternal peace of the departed souls.
