I have still many things to prove: Saifuddin

DHAKA, April 19, 2019 (BSS)-When his other colleagues failed to dazzle with cherry or willow, all-rounder Mohammad Siafuddin unarguably is the only one from the Bangladesh’s world cup squad to be in great form in Dhaka Premier League (DPL).

Apart from his whirlwind batting lower down the order, he continued tormenting the batsmen with his effective seam bowling, a thing that is believed to be handy in England, which will host the ICC Cricket World Cup from May 30.

Despite that inspiring form, Saifuddin refused to feel complete as he believed he has still many things to prove.

“I generally prepare myself match by match. If I get the opportunity to play any match in the World Cup I will definitely try my best,” Saifuddin said.

Playing for defending champions Abahani Limited Saifuddin has recently recorded his career-best bowling, claiming 5-9 against Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club in a DPL game. One match later, he followed this with 5-32 against Prime Bank Cricket Club. In doing so, he at the moment remains the second highest wicket-taker in the league with 23 wickets from 11 matches, behind Farhad Reza whose 33 scalps came at 14 matches.

Because of batting lower down the order, he didn’t get the opportunity to bat regularly, but still scored 177 runs with two half-centuries.

The stat itself suggested, no other player in Bangladesh’s World Cup squad is as consistent as Saifuddin in the league.

“I have still many things to prove. There is nothing to feel complete. We have tri-nation series in Ireland ahead and then World Cup,” he said.

“Firstly I have to prove myself in tri-nation series. I will try my best to bat and bowl well in the series,” he concluded.
