Corrupts are getting justice for independence of judiciary: Anisul

BRAHMANBARIA, April 19, 2019 (BSS) – Law, Justice and Parliament Affairs Minister Anisul Haq today reaffirmed that the country’s judicial system is completely independent and that’s why the corrupt people are getting justice.

“The government is not making any intervention on the court …so the corrupts are now facing trial irrespective of political affiliation,” he said as the chief guest at the inaugural function of some development projects on Brahmanbaria Sadar upazila council premises here.

The law minister’s comments came in reply to a recent statement made by BNP’s senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rijvi that the bare intervention of the government on the judicial system is delaying the release of BNP chief Khaleda Zia from jail.

Law minister said, “The lower court gave sentence to Begum Zia as she was found guilty of stealing the money of the orphans… we didn’t find any intervention by the government as the higher court has enhanced her jail term from five years to 10 years disposing of her appeal petition.”

The judicial system has been totally independent since the government led by Sheikh Hasina came to power, said the minister, adding that there was no independence of judiciary in the country during the regime of the BNP.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Hayat-Ud-Dowla Khan, Additional Police Super of Kosba-Akhaura circle Abdul Karim and Upazila Chairman Rashedul Kawsar Bhiyan, among others, attended the function.
