Stocks close week down

DHAKA, April 18, 2019 (BSS) – Stocks today finished the week down with falling trend of all major price indices at Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges due to lower demand.

The broader DSEX of the DSE finished the week with 4.98 points down at 5,321.41.The blue-chip DS30 and the Shariah DSES also followed the same trend with 5.40 points down at 1,897.58 and with 5.61 points down at 1,227.62 respectively.

Out of the 353 issues traded at the DSE today, 176 issues gained against 143 losing issues.

During the week, the daily average trade value decreased by 7.93 percent to Taka 308.15 crore while the average trade volume fell by 1.40 percent to 7.11 crore shares.

The top five gainers of the week were – Standard Ceramic Industries, United Insurance Company, Mercantile Insurance Company, Hakkani Pulp and Paper and Active Fine Chemicals.

The major losing issues of the week were Reckitt Benckiser (Bd) Limited, Monno Ceramic Industries, GSP Finance Company (Bangladesh) Limited, Monno Jute Stafflers and Islamic Finance and Investment.

The top five turnover leaders were Fortune Shoes, Monno Ceramic Industries, Bangladesh Submarine Cable Company, United Power Generation and Distribution Company and Esquire Knit Composite. Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed the week down with its major CASPI index ending 42.94 points lower at 16,264.95.
