Stocks witness up on large-cap vibe
DHAKA, April 17, 2019 (BSS) – Stocks today witnessed upward trend as major indices of both Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges were found rising trend with higher activities of some large-cap securities.
The rising major sectors were ceramics, insurance and paper and printing. A total of 130 securities of the large-cap group moved up on higher activities.
The broader DSEX index of the DSE closed the session with 10.49 points up at 5,259.41. The Shariah DSES and the blue-chip DS30 also followed the same trend with 4.67 points up at 1,217.04 and with 3.69 points up at 1,880.51 respectively.
The volume of shares rose to 7.37 crore from Tuesday’s 6.57 crore shares and the daily turnover in value at DSE increased to Taka 314.55 crore from Tuesday’s Taka 269.91 crore.
At the DSE, price of 160 securities out of the day’s 345 traded issues closed higher against 127 losing issues.
The major gaining issues were STANCERAM, United Insurance, Sonar Bangla Insurance, HAKKANIPUL and Takaful Insurance. The major losing issues were Monno Ceramics, Monno Stafflers, Northern, UPGDCL and PROGRESLIF.
BSCCL topped the turnover leaders followed by UPGDCL, Monno Ceramics, Fortune and Sonar Bangla Insurance.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with downward trend with its major CASPI 17.54 points down at 16,083.29.
At the CSE, 232 issues were traded. Of those, 92 closed higher and 103 closed lower while 40.31 lakh shares worth Taka 12.66 crore changed hands.
