Next election as per constitution: Nasim

 DHAKA, March 17, 2018 (BSS) – Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammed Nasim reiterated the government stance that there is no way to go beyond the constitution in holding the next parliament election.

“The next general election will be held as per the constitution under Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. We have no way to go beyond the constitution,” he told a function to distribute improved food among destitute and orphans at Azimpur orphanage here.

Awami League sub-committee on Relief and Social Welfare organized the programme on the occasion of the 99th birthday of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children Day.

Referring to BNP leaders’ remarks over the next general election, Nasim, also Awami League presidium member, said they do not want to keep any party away from the next polls.

He said they would have nothing to do if any party does not take part in the election.

AL Relief and Social Welfare Secretary Sujit Roy Nandi and Publicity Secretary of Dhaka City South AL Akter Hossain were present on the occasion, among others.

Besides, the minister also attended a discussion of Chhatra League on Bangabandhu’s birthday and National Children Day at Dhaka University Bangabandhu Hall.

AL Joint General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif, DU Bangabandhu Hall Provost Professor Mafizur Rhaman, Bangladesh Chhatra League President Saifur Rahman Sohag and General Secretary SM Jakir Hossain addressed the discussion, among others.

Later, the minister also attended another discussion at Willes Little Flower School and College in the city.

Dhaka City South unit of AL Joint General Secretary Dr Dilip Roy, Swechchhasebak League President Mollah Mohammad Abu Kawsar and General Secretary Pankaj Debnath, Organizing Secretary of Dhaka City North unit of Swechchasebak League KM Manwarul Islam Bipul, spoke on the occasion, among others.
