President hosts ‘Cultural Evening’ on Pahela Baishakh

DHAKA, April 16, 2019 (BSS) – President M Abdul Hamid this evening hosted a “Cultural Evening” at Bangabhaban Durbar Hall on the occasion of Pahela Baishakh, the first day of Bangla New Year 1426.

The head of the state also extended his Bangla Nababarsha greetings to the Bangabhaban officials and employees, relatives and some dignitaries.

The function organized by the Ministry of Cultural Affairs that continued from 7 pm to 9 pm with a colourful presentation of Bengali’s longstanding heritages.

Welcoming them in the Bangabhaban, Abdul Hamid wished a happy, peaceful and prosperous moment in days to come.

In his brief speech, the President also expressed his Baishakhi greetings to the countrymen as well.

He also thanked the artistes who performed cultural function and staged show.

President Hamid also thanked the cultural affairs ministry for organizing this auspicious cultural event.

The President along with his spouse Rashida Khanam, son Rejwan Ahammad Taufiq, MP, and other family members, later, enjoyed traditional folk, patriotic and Tagore songs, as well as dance that highlighted Bangalees’ rich culture and tradition.

State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid, former Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor and concerned ministry secretaries and Bangabhaban were there.

Eminent singers — Rezwana Chowdhury Bonna, Khairul Anam Shakil, SI Totul, Rejwan Ahammad Taufiq, MP, and Quamrun Nahar performed songs on the occasion.

The cultural programme ended with staging a drama on Liberation War entitles ‘Laljamin’.

On the occasion, the guests were entertained with traditional Bangalee foods like moa, murki, muroli, kadma, different kinds of fruits, other kinds of sweetmeats and subsequently dinner.
