DHAKA, April 16, 2019 (BSS)- The seven players who has earned call-up for the first time in Bangladesh’s World Cup squad, expressed their satisfaction, vowing to make the most of the opportunities if they finally can play any match in the cricket’s biggest extravaganza.

Roookie players – Liton Das, Mohammad Mithun, Mohammad Saifuddin, Abu Jayed Rahi, Mustafizur Rahman, Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Mosaddek Hossain, it will be the first World Cup experience unless an unfortunate incident or injury axe them finally.

All of them unanimously termed this call up a ‘dream comes true’ for which they were keenly waiting. And the good thing is that all have the equal chance to make it the first XI during the World Cup event.

“It’s the biggest achievement of my life,” said Mosaddek Hossain, an all-rounder who is included in the squad as cover for Mahmudullah Riyad whose shoulder injury prevented him from bowling for the time being.

“Since I started playing cricket, I dreamt to play at least one World Cup. I don’t know whether I will get any game but if the opportunity comes, I will leave no stone unturned to make it memorable.”

Mohammad Mithun, who is probably the only batsmen along with all-rounder Saifuddin in this squad to be in form, be it International cricket or domestic league is certain to make the first XI.

He said he will try to be the best performer of the side in the World Cup.

“I am trying my best to keep me in form ahead of the World Cup. It will be a dream comes true if I can be the best performer of the side in the World Cup. No matter in which position I will bat, I will try to give my best,” Mithun said.

Predominantly a swing bowler, Abu Jayed Rahi is leaking his lips to bowl in the English condition.

”It is ideal for the pace bowlers to play in the country like England. We can swing the ball in that condition. Since my main strength is swing, I am really optimistic,” Jayed said.

Mustafizur Rahman currently being sidelined with an ankle sprained hopes to be fit ahead of the World Cup.

“There is no doubt that I will try my best to make it a memorable journey for me. Hopefully I will be fit by the time when the event begins,” a soft-spoken Mustafizur told the BSS a couple of days ago.

Saifuddin is keen to make a mark like others, knowing that his bowling and batting style could be handy in English condition.

“Playing World Cup is a dream for every player. I am preparing myself in a way that I could show something worthy in this event to make my country proud,” an elated Saifuddin said.

Liton Das’s form will be crucial in steadying Bangladesh’s batting. The hard-hitter batsman whose main problem is his consistency said he is trying his best to rectify the problems ahead of the World Cup.

“There are some matches in Dhaka Premier League still. I hope I will play to my potential in those matches and become consistent ahead of the World Cup. My team badly needs this from me,” Liton said.

Mehidy was elated to get a call-up, saying it was his dream since his childhood.

“When I made my debut with a Test series against England in 2016, my only target was to play the World Cup. That’s why I tried hard to do well with white ball. My hard work paid off and now I have to play well to make it memorable. Otherwise it will matter little,” Mehidy remarked.
