Drug dealer killed in city gunfight: RAB

DHAKA, April 11, 2019 (BSS) – An alleged drug peddler and accused of 11
criminal cases was killed in a gunfight with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in
city’s Mohammadpur area early today.

Company Commander of RAB-2 Police Super (SP) Mohiuddin Faruki told BSS
that the deceased was identified as Nabi Hossain, 47.

Being informed, a RAB team conducted a drive in Dhaka Uddyan area at
about 5.15am. Sensing the presence of the law enforcement agency, Nabi along
with his cohort opened fire targeting RAB members. In retaliation, RAB also
opened fire commencing a gunfight there, he said.

Nabi was caught in the line of fire and dead on the spot while his
associate managed to flee the scene.

The RAB team also recovered a pistol with two bullets and some 10,000
pieces of yaba pills from the spot, the RAB official added.

Preparation is underway to file a case with Mohammadpur police station
in this connection.
