DHAKA, April 4, 2019 (BSS) – A five-day telecommunication conference dubbed “Advancing Digital Bangladesh” is going to begin on April 7 in the capital with the participation of all mobile phone operators and other operators related to telecom sector.

Chinese technology, equipment and solution provider Huawei is organizing the event to find out the ways of adopting future technology, especially 5G in Bangladesh alongside the globe.

As part of the event, Huawei today organized a session with the members of Telecom Reporters’ Network Bangladesh (TRNB) at Huawei’s Customer Solution Innovation and Integration Experience Centre (CSIC) in the capital.

Huawei Bangladesh chapter Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Jerry Wang mobile data users of the country are currently using 1.2 gigabytes (GB) data on an average every month which is only one tenth compare with the neighboring country like India and service quality plays an important role sitting in the backtrack.

“Mobile operators of Bangladesh are using the similar technology that of operators in India, Sri Lanka and Singapore, but there are huge gap of the service quality between these countries,” he opined.

In the five-day long event, Huawei will present their innovation and products which they have demonstrate in the mobile world congress in February this year aiming to rollout the 5G services across the world.

Replying to different questions Wang said, in three years back average uses of mobile data in a month was 1GB but now it reached at 10GB in a short span of time.

“Bangladesh will reach its desired goal within shortest possible of time, but before that that there are some issues which are needed to be fix first,” he added.

Bangladesh is planning for rollout 5G service end of 2021 and before that some policy revision will be needed to get expected service from the ultra-fast 5G network.

Bangladesh is the world’s sixth country that have tested 5G network July last year.
