ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY, March 09, 2018 (BSS)- The English department of Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia today began a two-day long first alumni reunion and silver jubilee programme on the campus amid enthusiasm and festivity.
To celebrate the program, discussion meeting, recollection of memories and cultural programmes were held at Birshreshtha Hamidur Rahman auditorium of the university.
IU Vice-chancellor Professor Dr M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari addressed the discussion progoramme as the chief guest while Pro-VC Professor Dr M Shahinoor Rahman and Treasurer Professor Dr M Selim Toha spoke as the special guests.
Over 900 former and current students, teachers and staff of the department attended the programme with department chairman Professor Dr AHM Aktarul Islam in the chair. Sheikh Sultana Sukhi, alumni of the department, conducted it.
On the second day of the function on Saturday, a grand rally, games for alumni, guests and kids, formation of alumni association, raffle draw and cultural show will be held.
Earlier, the authority decorated the department, auditorium and roads of the campus on the occasion of alumni reunion and silver jubilee program of the department.
English department starts its journey at Islamic University (IU) in 1990 under the academic session of 1990-91.
