DHAKA, March 20, 2017 (BSS) – Highlighting the sustainable economic and business performance of Bangladesh, Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed today invited Singaporean investors and businessmen to avail the business and investment opportunities being offered by the government for foreigners.
The minister was addressing the Bangladesh Business Seminar titled “South Asia Market Insights Series: Business Opportunities in Bangladesh” jointly organized by Singapore Business Federation (SBF), Bangladesh High Commission in Singapore and Bangladesh Business Chamber of Singapore (BDCham) in SBF auditorium, said a press release.
Mentioning that Bangladesh offers the most liberal FDI regime in South Asia allowing 100 percent foreign equity with unrestricted exit policy, remittance of royalty, facilities, equity and dividend and duty and quota free access to most developed markets, he urged Singapore investors to invest in many of the country’s promising sectors including garment, IT, pharmaceuticals and ship building as well as in leather products, furniture and frozen fruit industries.
Tofail also described how Bangladesh progressed to become a vibrant economy under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Bangladesh High Commissioner to Singapore Mustafizur Rahman, Vice Chairman of Singapore Business Federation and Chairman of South Asia Business Group Gautam Banerjee and President of Bangladesh Business Chamber of Singapore Mirza Golam Sabur, among others, spoke on the seminar.
Highlighting the enormous business potentials between Bangladesh and Singapore, Mustafizur Rahman assured Singapore businessmen and investors to provide all-out support to them to facilitate business with Bangladesh.
During the seminar, Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Singapore Business Federation and Bangladesh Business Chamber of Singapore was signed.
